Music for Relief: A benefit Concert for Tsunami Reconstruction--Organized by a student committee from the Community School of the East Bay.
Featuring a spectacular lineup of artists including: David Grisman; Laurie
Lewis and Tom Rozum; Kaila Flexer and Friends; Geoff Muldaur, Eric Thompson, Suzy Thompson and Larry Hanks; Mike Wollenberg and Julian Smedley.
A sensational lineup of leading lights in acoustic music gathers under one
roof for this not-to-be-missed benefit concert. All of the money raised in
this benefit will be sent to the "Do Something: Young People Changing Their
World" campaign for Tsunami Relief. This organization guarantees that at
least 96% of funds receive go to support specific reconstruction projects:
construction of learning centers in Tamil Nadu, India; building a school in
Banda Aceh, Indonesia; construction of a medical clinic in Kirinda in
Hembanthota district in Sri Lanka; and building of a school in Pottuvil, Sri
Lanka and support for the Sarvodaya Orphan Relief Fund, Sri Lanka. (For

Emily Klion is an incredible children's theater director. She has adapted JIP, HIS STORY based on the novel by Newbery Award-winning author Katherine Paterson. MainStage Performance Ensemble is a group of 5th-8th grade students from all over the Bay Area who work together to create theater magic under the direction of award-winning artists. A trio accompanying the kids includes KF on violin, former Kronos cellist Joan Joan Jeanrenaud, and pianist Richard Riley.

An Evening in the Mediterranean with Kaila Flexer and Friends
Come hear the debut of this trio featuring Kaila Flexer on violin, Gari Hegedus on various (mostly plucked) strings and vocalist/percussionist Briget Boyle (of KITKA). This trio will provide an eclectic concert of traditional Balkan and Balkan-inspired original music, showcased in a beautiful and intimate turn-of-the century Berkeley farmhouse near Monterey Market.
You'll hear songs from Greece, Turkey, Macedonia and Bulgaria as well as Flexer's new material based on these traditions. Your admission includes the concert and light Mediterranean "mezze" and beverages. The music will start at 8:00 pm. Harpscotch, a duo consisting of Liza Wallace (age 15) and Mirabelle Korn (age 16), will present a benefit concert on December 3rd at the East Bay Dance Center in Oakland's Glenview district. Mirabelle and Liza perform original compositions on neo-Celtic harps. Their repertoire draws from Balkan and Latin American folk music as well and jazz and Celtic music. They add an extra dimension to their concert with vocals and bodhran.
This concert is a benefit for the Mission Harp Ensemble: a recently inaugurated project of Diana Stork and Portia Diwa who teach Latino children from San Francisco's Mission District to play Latin American music on the harp

Our dear friend Carla was recently diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. While facing extraordinary challenges Carla continues bring a charismatic and witty charm to her musical and stage productions. Carla will perform music from her new CD, Extraordinary Renditions . She'll be joined by an exceptional line-up of musical talent, including famed musical satirist Roy Zimmerman, internationally renowned bassist Kai Eckhardt, the Michael Zilber-Billy Collins Project with Andy Kirshner and Teslim.
